Its been a dream of ours for years to have a relaxing island getaway in our own home. Well,
not so much a whole island, rather a piece of it. We started collecting items for our eventual
Tiki Bar before we ever even had a house with a basement!
After years of gathering trinkets and pictures on our tropical trips and months of preperation,
finally the work began in November 2004. Took a sledgehammer to the old kitchen counter leftover
from the previosu owners from the 80's and tore up the carpet to replace with black ceramic tile. Kept the old cabinetry the
housed the sink and pipes, but everything else went to the trash - INCLUDING the sink.
Constructed the basic frame and finished that by the holidays. Spent January 2005 on the varnish, stain, bartop, awning and all the decorating.
